Unpopular opinion: That extra wipe before paint isn't just busy work.

Remembered a buddy who painted his garage... the old paint was flaking off the cinder blocks. He skimped and didn't use a primer. Whole thing started peeling in sheets after one winter. He had to pressure wash it all off and start over, this time with a proper bonding primer. Night and day difference.

PSA: In my first job, we figured out issues by asking the senior staff, not by reading manuals.

Absolutely feels that way. Manuals are packed with terms that make no sense to most of us. In my experience, tenants call about dishwasher errors that the booklet explains with codes, not plain fixes. My grandpa could adjust a furnace pilot light blindfolded, but now it's all digital panels. When the handy folks retire, we risk losing a lot of basic repair skills. Short YouTube clips help, but they're hit or miss for specific models.

Rant: My kraut kept going bad until I clashed over jar sealing methods

Switched to airlocks after my last batch turned out weird. Now my kraut comes out right every time without the daily hassle.

Just got back from a pristine mountain spring and I'm fuming

Ugh, that makes me so mad. I just read an article about how even biodegradable stuff like apple cores and orange peels can mess with wildlife and take forever to break down in cold places. It's like some people think the woods are a giant trash can. Why is it so hard to just take a bag and carry your stuff out? Does seeing trash make you want to clean up or just turn around and leave?

A wonky fence mural near my place gave me layout ideas

Friend had the same dumb idea, @the_ivan pointed it out.
