Just got back from a pristine mountain spring and I'm fuming

In my experience, these secret spots get ruined fast when folks don't pack out their trash. I found wrappers and cans everywhere, which totally kills the vibe.

Ugh, that makes me so mad. I just read an article about how even biodegradable stuff like apple cores and orange peels can mess with wildlife and take forever to break down in cold places. It's like some people think the woods are a giant trash can. Why is it so hard to just take a bag and carry your stuff out? Does seeing trash make you want to clean up or just turn around and leave?

Wait, really? Apple cores take forever up north? @the_mila that actually blows my mind... I always figured an apple core was basically just dirt in a week or two. It's crazy how people just don't know this stuff, they think they're feeding the forest or something. That makes it so much worse, like they're littering and they feel good about it. Now I'm just angry at the whole idea.

Seriously, it's the ignorance that gets me. Like @murphy.ruby said, people feel good about tossing an apple core because they think it helps. That false idea does more damage than just leaving a candy wrapper.
