Unpopular opinion: That extra wipe before paint isn't just busy work.

I mean, I used to skip it to save time. But after seeing how much smoother the finish is with a proper tack cloth, I do it every time now.

Guess it also helps the paint stick around longer.

Remembered a buddy who painted his garage... the old paint was flaking off the cinder blocks. He skimped and didn't use a primer. Whole thing started peeling in sheets after one winter. He had to pressure wash it all off and start over, this time with a proper bonding primer. Night and day difference.
