Honestly, the worst drafting week of my life was last month in Denver

Oh man, I feel that. My backup is this old tablet that heats up like a griddle if you open more than two PDFs. I once had to mark up a full set of construction drawings on it, and the lag was so bad my redlines looked like a toddler's scribble. The client probably thought I was having a stroke. You just have to laugh or you'll cry.

PSA: My 3-year-old sourdough starter turned into a science project gone wrong last month

Scraped a tiny bit from the very bottom of my jar after a similar gray hooch situation. Fed that little bit with rye flour in a new jar for a few days, which seemed to help it fight off the bad smells. It took over a week of regular feeding before it finally started acting normal again.

I read a report that said over 60% of false alarms come from user error, not system faults

Remember that time @the_amy's cheat sheet saved me from a call? My neighbor set off his alarm cooking, and he just stared at the keypad. A simple guide right there would have fixed it in seconds. We really need to make those basics impossible to miss.

My dad swore by a 4 inch block plane for years, and I finally saw why

Got my grandpa's old drawknife. Modern rasps and sanders just make a mess on green wood sometimes. That old blade peels off a perfect curl in one smooth pull, leaves the surface almost ready for finish. It just feels right in your hands.

Cleared my 500th flue liner last week and the number hit me harder than I expected.

You're right, Jordan, it really puts the scale of the work into perspective. Imagine the sore backs from laying all that brick. A whole lifetime of labor right there in one photo.
