TIL our book club in Portland completely changed after we read 'The Overstory' and someone brought a literal tree branch to the meeting.

Brought a bag of frozen peas for a book about a shipwreck, which just made everyone stare at me.

Brought a jar of dirt for The Grapes of Wrath, which got way more intense than expected. People started arguing about the actual dust bowl versus modern farming. It was a messy but good talk.

Actually, the dust bowl was mostly in the 1930s... but yeah, that sounds like a wild night, @richard_shah. Props for bringing the dirt.
