Just dropped $120 on a special edition anime art book and it's a total game changer

I saw this 'Attack on Titan' final exhibition art book online for about $120 and decided to go for it. It just arrived and the quality is insane, with huge pages of concept art and storyboards I've never seen before. It's way better than just looking at stuff on a screen. I spent a whole afternoon going through it and picking up on details I missed in the show. Has anyone else bought a premium art book for a series they love, and was it worth the cost for you?

Vent: I was hiking in the Blue Ridge Mountains last weekend and saw a huge oak with about 20 climbing anchors drilled into it.

I mean, it was a popular spot but the sheer number of permanent bolts in a single mature tree, some looking really rusty, has me worried about decay and safety, has anyone else dealt with this kind of damage from recreational climbers?

My plastic window box split open after a week of rain

I had it full of baby lettuce on my south facing balcony, and the seam just gave way during that heavy rain on Tuesday. I had to scoop up all the wet soil and plants into a bucket before anything else fell. What's a good sturdy material for a long planter that won't crack like that?

My lead tech told me to ignore the intermittent fault code on a G1000 system

He said it was just a sensor glitch that would clear itself after a power cycle. I listened and signed off the plane, but the same code popped up during a flight test two days later. It turned out to be a failing LRU in the air data module, which we had to replace for about $8,000. Now I triple-check every fault, even the ones that seem small. Anyone else get burned by trusting a quick fix on a complex system?

Shoutout to the crew that helped me when my cutter head jammed on the Willamette

We hit a buried cable spool that wasn't on any map, and after three hours of trying to clear it ourselves, a guy from a passing barge radioed a trick with reverse flow and a pry bar. Anyone know a better way to check for that kind of hidden junk before you start cutting?

Just read that a lot of chefs in Japan keep their fish knives at a 15 degree angle, not 20.

I always sharpened my deba to a 20 degree bevel, thinking it was the standard. Then I saw a video from a guy in Osaka who measured his with a gauge, and it was a clear 15. He said it helps with cleaner cuts through bone on bigger fish. I tried it on a yellowtail yesterday and the difference was real. Has anyone else switched to a lower angle for their fish work?

Switched from a standard brush to a poly whip for a tight flue and it saved my afternoon

I had a job on a narrow Victorian in Portland with a really tight, square flue. My choice was between forcing my regular steel brush or trying a new poly whip I bought on a whim. I went with the whip, and it bent around the corners without getting stuck. It cleaned the whole thing in about 45 minutes, where the brush would have taken me twice as long with a lot more cursing. Anyone else use these for old, awkward chimneys?
