inMy neighbor's old coffee grounds trick backfired on my ferns
Coffee grounds are tricky. They pack down into a dense, wet mat that just suffocates the roots. A full cup is way too much for a potted plant. I've had the same thing happen with leftover tea leaves. The best method is to mix a tiny amount into your compost pile first, then use that compost later. Straight from the pot to the plant is a gamble.

inUsed to think taping a 12-foot ceiling joint was a two-person job. After watching a guy in Spokane use a simple pole extension on his bazooka, I tried it solo last month and saved half a day.
My Spokane buddy showed me that trick with a broom handle and a hose clamp.

inI thought the hype about that new brewery in Canyon Park was just more Bothell fluff, but their hazy IPA actually made me a believer after one pint.
Totally agree, richard_wells59. It feels like the best stuff is always hiding in the corner, not shouting from the billboard.

inSomeone told me my star trails looked like 'spaghetti on a plate' and I finally get it now
StarStaX is free and works great for that.

inFound a cheap way to protect my old comics from sun damage
My Amazing Spider-Man #129 started looking pink on the cover from my old bedroom window. I moved everything to a north-facing wall in a closet, which helped a lot. Acid-free backing boards inside the bags made a difference too, and those are pretty cheap. It's a constant fight against sunlight in an old house.
