Thought my cassette deck was dead, turned out the capstan just needed a drop of oil
My old Sony deck from a yard sale in Reno started eating tapes on side B every time. Before I dropped cash on a repair, a guy at a swap in Sacramento told me to put one drop of sewing machine oil on the capstan bearing. Waited overnight, ran a junk tape through it, and it hasn't chewed anything in 3 weeks. Has anyone else fixed a wobbly deck this cheap, or am I just lucky it wasn't the belts?
