Rant: Our new lead mechanic watches every move I make

Yeah when you said it kills your focus, that hit home lol. My old boss used to time me on oil changes and it made me fumble the simplest stuff, like dropping a wrench or forgetting to torque a drain plug. That nervous feeling makes you second-guess everything you know. It's the worst way to try and get good work out of someone, man.

Tried to hang a picture frame and now my wall has a new abstract art piece.

Spend half my weekend fixing little home projects that go sideways... like that time I put up a shelf and it left a crack shaped like a lightning bolt. Seems like every DIY attempt adds some unique damage to the place. Makes me wonder if we're all just creating modern art by accident. Your wall might be onto something with that abstract look.

My repainted doorframe keeps reverting to the old color.

My porch railing did the exact same thing last spring.

Serious question, does perfect glass really matter?

Wait, I get what you mean, but a perfect character can still have loads of personality! They're not really opposites, you know? A well written one just feels real, flaws and all.

Vent: My new hire keeps messing up the risotto timing

Honestly ninar51, you hit on something there. Seen way too many new cooks get stuck trying to master one showy dish while their basic knife work or station setup is a mess. The obsession over a perfect risotto can wait. If someone can nail the fundamentals like following recipes, keeping things clean, and showing up ready to learn, they'll get to the fancy stuff in time. Pushing for perfection on one thing right away just sets them up to stress over the wrong stuff.
