Am I the only one who believes that prioritizing sleep over late-night workouts is the real game-changer for fitness?

Some fitness enthusiasts push for late-night training sessions to maximize gains, but I've noticed that skimping on sleep leaves me feeling drained and hampers my progress. Conversely, committing to a full eight hours has dramatically boosted my recovery and energy levels, making my daytime workouts more effective. Is the emphasis on more exercise hours overlooking the critical role of rest, or am I missing something?

Grind culture has everyone believing sleep is wasted time. The whole "hustle" mentality pushes late workouts when we're already depleted. It's a productivity obsession bleeding into fitness, ignoring that biology doesn't care about your side hustle. Recovery isn't optional, it's the entire foundation.

Remember scoffing at early bedtimes, convinced that pushing through fatigue was a badge of honor. @alexh88, your point about biology not caring about side hustles echoes what my doctor finally drilled into me after I developed chronic exhaustion. I used to schedule 10 PM weight sessions, believing I was optimizing my day, but now I see that was just stealing from my recovery bank. The mindset shift to prioritizing sleep has actually improved my workout performance more than any extra hour at the gym ever did. Framing recovery as the foundation, not an option, is what finally made it stick for me.
