inDropped $200 on an AI ad optimizer that basically just wrote gibberish
I've been through the same thing with a few of those tools. The one that actually worked for me was a much simpler setup where I feed it my top performing past ads and it writes variations based on those. Still have to edit the output to keep the brand voice consistent. Trialing a bunch of free trials is the only way to find one that doesn't just spit out buzzword soup. Most of the flashy platforms are just repackaged GPT with expensive subscriptions. The key is finding something that lets you control the tone with examples, not just generic settings. Took me about six months of testing to land on one that made my workflow faster instead of creating more work cleaning up garbage.

inWasted $50 on a crunchyroll subscription I barely used
I get what you're saying but I think you're looking at it wrong. Ten bucks a month is basically nothing for a whole library of shows, even if you only watch a couple episodes. I've had mine for two years now and sometimes I go weeks without touching it, but then I'll binge something for a weekend and it pays for itself. You just can't expect to get full value out of it every single month.

inThe before and after of my first HTML project six months apart is honestly hilarious
Ha, right? Next they'll add a gradient and call it a glow up.

inOverheard a guy at lunch say he uses a drywall square for carpet seams, tried it on a 12x15 room yesterday and it cut my time by a third.
Ngl that's genius, I've noticed the best tools rarely come from the aisle they're supposed to be in. Yeah the T-square lip grabs the backing without crushing the pile, just test it on a scrap piece first.

inA homeowner watched me mud for 20 minutes then asked if I could just paint over the tape instead
Third house I've had this conversation with this year, always on the nicer homes in Elmhurst. I just told the guy flat out that without mud the tape will bubble up in a month and he'll see every seam line. He didn't believe me so I showed him a scrap piece I had in the truck where someone did exactly that. Sometimes you just have to let them see it with their own eyes.
