inStopped at a farm auction in Iowa and saw a 1980s Mack truck with a homemade fuel system
Used to think a little dirt in the fuel was no big deal. Then I saw a pump grenade from some rust flecks in a similar homemade line, and it changed my mind fast. That kind of fix just costs you more later.

inTried a $250 battery powered pole saw against my old gas Stihl for a week of storm cleanup. The gas one won, hands down.
Ever notice how everything feels like it's built to be replaced now, not fixed? My dad's old lawnmower from the 80s still starts on the first pull, but my new microwave has a digital panel that went blank after two years. We trade raw power and simple fixes for a quieter, lighter machine that just becomes junk when its one fancy part fails.

inMy apprentice asked me why we call it 'pigtailing' and I had to admit I had no clue.
So is that actually where the name comes from, or did some electrician just make it up one day? I've been in the trade for a while too and never questioned it, but now I'm curious if there's a real history behind the term.

inFound a weird fact about old Maytag washers in a library book
Miss my grandma's old washer.

inMy terrible week started with a broken grinder in Boise
Actually had to use that pre-ground stuff last week when my grinder broke. It's not great but it's better than no coffee at all!
