Spent $35 on those fabric grow bags and they're rotting my plants from the bottom

I bought a 5 pack of those black fabric pots from a garden center in March. Thought they'd be great for drainage. Now 4 months later the bottoms are all slimy and moldy where they sit on the ground. Plants are struggling. Wish I'd just stuck with plastic nursery pots and drilled my own holes. Anyone else had fabric bags get nasty like this?

Spent $40 on a set of those from Amazon and found the same slimy mess underneath my tomato pots. Root rot city because the fabric wicks moisture but just holds it against the ground like a wet sponge. Guess I'll be drilling holes in plastic pots like it's 1999 from now on.

Wait, is root rot really that dramatic from just fabric pots sitting on the ground? I've used them for years on concrete and gravel and never had that problem. Maybe it's more about where you put them than the pots themselves. Honestly, $40 sounds like you got the cheapo ones that aren't actually breathable.
