Why does everyone overtighten oil drain plugs?

Agreed with you completely man... I've had this argument with so many people in my years of working on cars. It's like they think the plug is gonna fall out if they don't crank it down, but really that spec is just a light snug. I've seen more than a few aluminum pans that got ruined because someone used a breaker bar on a drain plug. You barely need more than a good wrist snap and maybe a little extra to crush the crush washer, anything past that is just asking for trouble.

My cucumber plant got fried by a wind reflector I made

I had a buddy try that and his basil got the same crispy treatment.

Tried two different mortar mixes on the same job site in Pittsburgh last month

Wait the supplier actually sent you the wrong mortar and you didn't make them fix it?

That one piece of feedback that made me stop overexplaining in emails

In my experience, mentioning emojis usually came from someone who didn't want to actually deal with the issue head-on. They'd rather throw a smiley on it and pretend everything's fine. @faithbaker, if your manager is pushing emojis, they're probably just trying to soften a tough conversation so it looks friendlier on paper. The real test is whether they actually fix the problem or just want you to smile through it. My two cents: push back if they're just asking for fake happiness instead of real solutions.

That time a vendor called me at 7 AM to review their own product

Wait, is getting a random review request really that big of a deal though? I mean sure it's weird and probably a glitch in the seller's system, but calling her up about it seems like a lot of effort over nothing. Probably just an automated message that got sent to the wrong person by accident. Unless she's getting bombarded with threats or something, sounds more like an annoying spam email than anything serious.
