My aunt's tip about canned corn changed how I use it forever
Last month my aunt saw me dumping a whole can of corn into my chili and she was like, 'You're ruining it, let the corn sit in the liquid first.' I thought she meant drain it, but no, she said to keep the corn in the can water for 5 minutes before adding it, so it soaks back up some moisture and doesn't get that weird crunchy skin. I tried it with a 99 cent can of sweet corn and honestly the texture is way better, less popping and more creamy. She also said to save the liquid and use it instead of water when I make instant rice, which is a total game changer for a 2 dollar dinner. Has anyone else got a random family hack like this that seems dumb but actually works?
