inLooking back at my first VP role in Austin, I used to think micromanaging my team's weekly reports was the only way to stay on top of things, but after a brutal quarter where we missed our numbers, I forced myself to switch to setting clear quarterly goals and then getting out of the way.

inOverheard a client at the coffee shop say 'I just need a logo, it should take an hour'
That mindset is everywhere now. People see the final product, not the process. They'll watch a five minute recipe video and think a complex meal takes no time. Same with home repairs or even writing. The work gets invisible. A logo isn't just an hour of drawing. It's the thinking, the revisions, the files. You have to show them the map, not just the destination.
