Saw a one man shop in Austin beat a 12 bay dealership on a quarter panel
Stopped by Martinez Auto Body off of East 7th last week. Guy runs the place solo, no spray booth, just a portable paint setup. He matched a pearl white on a 2021 Camry that two big shops said needed a full blend. Took him 3 days and he charged $850. Dealership quoted $2,400 and 2 weeks. Anyone else think the mega shops are getting lazy, or was this just a lucky hit?

Did you check his previous work before handing over the keys? I had a similar deal with a solo guy in San Antonio who fixed a peeling clear coat on my old F150, no booth either, and it held up for years until I sold it. Sometimes the smaller shops just care more about the craft than hitting a quota, so I'd rather take the risk and save the cash.
