Last year, I was hiking in the Bolivian highlands and found a valley few outsiders know. It was beautiful, with clean rivers and old houses where people lived off the land. I took pictures and put them on social media, thinking I could help the community by bringing visitors. But within months, the place was flooded with tourists. They left garbage everywhere and annoyed the locals who valued their quiet life. I saw the damage firsthand when I returned and felt guilty for my part in it. Now, I believe that some hidden gems should stay hidden to protect them. Sharing every secret spot for online praise can ruin what makes them special.
