TIL my climate worry messes with my sleep and my drive to act

Lately, bad climate news has me tossing all night, cutting into my rest. Some friends say this fear is useful because it pushes them to do more, like cutting plastic use or calling lawmakers. Others argue that being tired all the time makes it hard to keep up with real actions, like volunteering or biking to work. How do you find a good balance between staying informed and staying healthy?

Fear pushing you to act sounds good but burning out helps no one. Getting real rest lets you put in steady work instead of quick bursts. A clear head from good sleep does more long term than tired panic.

Totally agree with this. Heard a podcast with a sports doctor once. Said even pro athletes have mandatory rest days built into training. Because constant go-go-go literally breaks down the body's ability to perform. Same thing happens to your brain if you never shut off. That tired panic mode makes dumb, sloppy mistakes. Real rest isn't lazy, it's what lets you work smart tomorrow.

My cousin once tried pulling all-nighters for a week, crashed hard, and his dog ate his notes. @nora767 is right about the brain needing shut-off time.
