Oh man that's the worst possible timing. A hostel in Chiang Mai sounds like a nightmare place for tech to fail too. Hope you found some sketchy internet cafe to save the day lol. Backup drive dying right before a deadline is actual horror story stuff.

Managed to find a cafe with internet so slow it felt like a test of will. The backup drive failure was the final act in a comedy of errors that week. Honestly started to wonder if I was being pranked by the universe. Ended up rewriting half the project from memory on a borrowed laptop. The whole thing was such a mess I can laugh about it now, but barely.
