My whole monthly spread got ruined by a leaky pen

I was setting up my March pages last night with my favorite black fineliner. I left the notebook open to dry for a bit, but when I came back, my cat had jumped on the desk and knocked over a glass of water right onto the page. The ink ran everywhere, smearing all my dates and task lists. I had to carefully blot it with a paper towel, which just made the paper pill and tear in a couple spots. Has anyone found a good waterproof ink that still writes nice and thin for small boxes?

Honestly, I just read that the average wedding bouquet uses over 250 stems

Found that in a trade magazine from the wholesaler. Does that number seem right for your work, or is it way off?

A guy in Tacoma told me my post holes were too clean and it clicked

I was putting up a cedar fence for a client, doing my usual thing. Drill the hole, clean out all the loose dirt, set the post, pack the gravel. This older guy who was watching from his porch came over and said, 'Son, that hole is too clean. You're making a cup for water to sit in.' He explained that leaving a bit of rough, undisturbed soil at the bottom gives water a path to drain away from the wood instead of pooling right against it. I'd been doing it the 'clean' way for about five years, thinking I was being thorough. Now I always leave that bottom layer alone, maybe just roughen it up a bit with the auger. It makes sense when you think about it. Has anyone else had a simple tip like that change a basic part of their routine?

I used to think the moon landing stuff was just silly, but a documentary in Phoenix changed my mind.

I watched a film at the indie theater on 7th Ave that laid out the old arguments, then showed the NASA tech in detail. Seeing the actual engineering specs for the Saturn V's guidance system tipped me off that I'd been dismissing it too fast. So, which side has the stronger case now, the hoax believers or the official story defenders?

PSA: A local in a small Greek town showed me a food hack that saved me over 100 euros

I was in Monemvasia, Greece, trying to figure out a cheap lunch. A shop owner saw me looking at a pricey restaurant menu and just said, 'Go to the bakery, get fresh bread for 2 euros, then the grocer for olives and feta.' I did that for three days straight, spending maybe 5 euros a day on amazing picnics. It completely changed how I saw eating while traveling. Instead of seeking out tourist spots, I started copying how locals actually shop. Has anyone else had a local tip totally shift your food budget in a new place?

That's from wrapping stems for just my regular wedding package bouquets. Has anyone else been shocked by a simple supply number like that?

My aunt's old camcorder tape from 1997 is just 20 minutes of a cat staring at a wall

Found it in a box labeled 'Family Reunion' at her house in Phoenix. The cat's name was Muffin, and you can hear my uncle in the background saying 'I think the camera's on' about fifteen times. It's so boring it's actually kind of amazing. Has anyone else found footage that's just weirdly, perfectly pointless?

I opened one up in a 1920s Seattle bungalow last month and it had cloth wire spliced with Romex using twist caps and electrical tape. What's the proper fix for something like that?

Heard a guy at the hardware store say 'a crane is just a big lever' and it stuck with me

I was picking up some grease at the local supply place in Tacoma yesterday, and this older guy was talking to the clerk. He said, 'People get all impressed, but a crane is just a big lever. You gotta respect the physics.' I mean, I know that, but hearing it put that plain made me think. I spent my whole shift today really focusing on the load path and the pivot points, not just the controls. Anyone else ever have a simple phrase change how you approach a routine lift?

Crossed 5000 service calls on my old work van this week

I was filling out my log book yesterday and the total hit 5002. That number really hit me. I bought that van used in 2018, and it's been with me through every flooded basement, every stuck washer drum, and every finicky gas valve since. I keep a tally on the sun visor, just a simple mark for each job. It's not just a number, it's all those front doors I've walked through, all those people I've helped. The van itself is starting to show it, with over 200,000 miles now, but it's still running. It made me think about the sheer volume of work we do that often goes unseen.
