Had to choose between a client's wild idea and what I knew would work

This lady came into my chair in Austin and wanted me to give her a 'sunset ombre' with neon orange and purple, but her hair was already bleached to a level 9. I told her straight up it would probably fry, but she was set on it. I convinced her to try a deep conditioning treatment first and do a softer peach to lavender blend instead, which actually came out amazing. Anyone else have a client who wanted something that would just destroy their hair?

Ugh, it's like people forget hair is actually part of their body, not just clay to mold. Why is the wildest idea always the one they're most set on? Good on you for finding a middle ground that didn't leave her bald.

Tell me about it. Watched my cousin try to bleach his own dark hair platinum in one go last year. Looked like chewed up orange twine for months. The stubborn confidence people get holding a box dye is honestly scary. You have to gently guide them off the ledge sometimes.

Right? The box dye confidence is a real public health risk. I'm surprised we don't need a license for it.
