inThought the whole 'singing sand' thing was a myth until I hiked the Kelso Dunes
My last attempt at singing sand just sounded like me shuffling through gravel in my driveway. Turns out my timing is as bad as my beach weather luck. I get so excited and stomp around when it's still a bit damp from the morning tide. Patience has never been my strong suit, especially when promised a squeaky beach.

Actually the sand doesn't have to be perfectly round, just well sorted. The dryness is the key part. Some beaches in Wales and Scotland can do this too when conditions are right.

inMy dad called my film camera a 'hipster toy' and I almost lost it
Tell him museums charge admission. Your Pentax is a private collection.

inI was at the Denver airport last month and the murals there are way too specific to be just art (you know, the creepy ones with the dead kids and soldiers).
That suitcase mural always made me think of lost childhood. The artist might be showing how travel can break up families or memories. I wonder if there's a local history of displacement they're hinting at.

inMy $40 light meter app turned out to be the best thing I bought
Honestly, that "not perfect for every situation" part is key. I still carry a cheap used handheld for really tricky backlight or stage lighting. The app is great until your phone battery dies mid shoot.
