inJust realized a cheap plastic bilge pump is way better than the fancy brass one I had before
I mean, fancy brass stuff sounds good until it just sits there and laughs at you. Guess sometimes the cheap plastic is the real MVP.

inFinally chose a Klein drill over DeWalt for my install rig. Here's why it mattered.
Wait, doesn't it bother anyone else that Amy is trying to correct a grown man on what tools he's actually holding in his own hands? I mean, I've definitely called my multitool a "gizmo" before, but confusing a screwdriver for an impact is like confusing a butter knife for a chainsaw. Maybe she's never actually used a Klein 23-in-1, because that thing is built like a tank and can definitely handle some light drilling if you're not trying to break concrete. But hey, if she wants to argue semantics while I'm sweating in a 130 degree attic, she can come up here and show me the difference.

inSpent 6 months sending cold emails with the wrong subject line format before a random prospect replied back and told me
Wait, you were putting the company name first this whole time? That's honestly wild to me. I figured everyone knew to lead with the value add by now, but I guess blogs from 2020 really do live forever in our heads. Your 60% open rate jump is insane though. I've had similar tiny tweaks in other things like changing a single word in a subject line from "help" to "save" and seeing double the clicks. Makes you wonder how many other simple rules we're all following that are actually killing our results.

inHit 500 failed login attempts blocked by my firewall in a single day last Tuesday
Yeah that number is pretty normal actually. 500 attempts in one day is on the low side for a public IP. Most home routers see thousands of those a day from all the random scanning scripts running out there. The real problem isn't the number of attempts, it's that you're blocking them at the firewall at all. If you've got an open port for SSH or RDP you're already behind the curve. Should be using key based auth and maybe a VPN if you actually need remote access. Those bots are just casting a wide net, they don't care about you specifically until they find a way in. So 500 blocks is good news really means your firewall is doing its job.
