Spent 4 hours on a seam that should have taken 45 minutes

I was working on a House of Carpet job in Lincoln last Tuesday and ran into a bad seam that kept peeling up no matter what I did. Tried adjusting my seam iron temp three times, even swapped out my roller, but it was the backing on the carpet itself being super slick. Finally called a buddy who told me to use a different adhesive tape and it set in 10 minutes. Has anyone else dealt with a carpet that just refuses to hold a seam?

Serious question, why does everyone love spray paint so much?

I tried it last week on a dollar store vase project over on Elm Street, and I just don't get the hype. The coverage was patchy after 3 coats, and it still smelled like chemicals 2 days later in my garage. Isn't acrylic craft paint just as good for most things, and way cheaper to mix colors? Has anyone else had better luck with the brush-on stuff from the discount aisle?

Update on that washing machine that flooded my garage floor

Had a washing machine hose burst on me last Tuesday night. Water spread across my whole garage before I caught it around 2am. Spent Wednesday pulling everything out to dry and mopping up about 40 gallons of water. Ended up buying a new set of braided steel hoses for $25 and installed them that evening. Anyone else switched to those steel hoses after a flood scare?

Compared two power banks for camping trips and one was way better

I always used a cheap $20 Anker power bank for weekend hikes. But last month I borrowed my buddy's Goal Zero model that cost $60. It charged my phone three times versus the Anker's one and a half. The Goal Zero also held its charge for two weeks in my pack while the Anker drained itself in three days. Anyone else find that spending more on gear like this actually saves you hassle down the trail?

Visited a famous pie shop in Maine and honestly think their crust is overrated

Everyone raves about that place on the waterfront, but I tried their blueberry pie last weekend and the bottom was soggy and barely cooked through. Am I just unlucky or does anyone else think the hype is way too much for what you get?

Switched from driving showings to virtual tours after last winter

I used to spend 4 hours driving clients around to see 8 properties each Saturday. Now I do 15 minute video walkthroughs first and only visit the 2 or 3 they actually like. Has anyone else cut their windshield time this way?

I finally gave up on that stupid weatherproof box job near the refinery

Spent three hours trying to seal a box on the north side of the Valero plant in Port Arthur. The wind kept blowing my silicone caulk everywhere, and the customer kept saying it looked fine but I knew it was wrong. Have you guys ever had a simple 30 minute job turn into a whole afternoon mess?

Planted tomatoes too close together on my balcony and learned a hard lesson

Last spring I got excited and put 4 tomato plants in a single 18 inch window box on my 8th floor balcony in Chicago. I thought more plants would mean more tomatoes, but by July they were all tangled up and half of them had blight from no air flow. I ended up with maybe 10 small tomatoes total from all 4 plants. This year I only planted 2 in that same box and I'm already picking 5 or 6 a week. The lesson for me was that cramming them in tight does more harm than good. Has anyone else had better luck with fewer plants per container on a small balcony?

Nearly ruined a batch of chicken wings because I never preheated the basket

I was wondering why everything came out soggy until my neighbor saw me tossing frozen fries straight in and said 'you know you gotta let it heat up empty first right' and now I'm wondering what else I've been messing up this whole time.
