inBuilt two terrariums last weekend, one with gravel and one with leca.
Honestly, that's a solid point. I had the same problem with my last build, the water just pooled under the gravel and made a huge mess. Took me forever to figure out I needed way less than I thought.

inTrying to attach a rusty gear to a piece of driftwood took me three whole evenings!
That rust is probably the real problem, not the glue. The metal oxide layer acts like a barrier, so the adhesive is just sticking to loose powder. A quick scrub with vinegar and a wire brush first makes all the difference. It adds maybe ten minutes to the job, but saves those three evenings of frustration. The wood surface matters too, but getting the metal clean is the step everyone forgets.

inHeard a guy at the supply house say he never tapes inside corners first
My old foreman in Spokane ran his crews that way, flats first for twenty years. Then we did a big apartment remodel where every single inside corner from the original build had a hairline crack. Watching him fix them all changed my mind. The tape in the corner is the backbone, and you don't skip putting in the backbone. I lock them in first now, no question.

inRemembering a lesson from an old hand at the Detroit plant
Reminds me of the time I tried to skip taping before painting. Let's just say the prep work would've been cheaper than the new curtains.

Trust the bubble, not the gap" is a great one. My buddy had a foreman tell him "a clean weld starts with a clean plate" when he was rushing. That basic idea of doing the simple prep right first stuck with him for years.
