Why does nobody talk about how much water you waste with daily rose changes?

I saw a video from a florist in Seattle who only changes vase water every three days, and my roses started lasting a full week longer, so has anyone else cut back on water changes with good results?

Yeah, I only change mine once a week now.

Whoa, that seems way too long to me... I change mine every couple days, no question. It just starts to feel gross after a while, you know? Letting it go a whole week would drive me nuts. I guess we all have our own limits for that stuff.
