Hot take: Leveling a floor for tile in my kitchen took 4 days, not 4 hours.

The subfloor had a 3/4 inch dip no one mentioned. Anyone know a better method than self-leveler for a big area?

Actually, self-leveler is still the right call for a big dip like that. Shims under a subfloor just move the problem around for the next guy. A proper pour gives you a solid, permanent base to work from.

My uncle's deck project had a similar slope, and we just used shims for days.
