Just lost $300 on a 'perfect' co-living space in Bali that was a total scam

Booked a month in Canggu based on photos that looked amazing, but the place had no working wifi and the power went out every day. I had to move after three days and the owner kept my full payment. Has anyone else been burned by a fake co-living setup and how do you check them out for real?

Check the local power grid reviews before booking.

Man, that's rough. I read a blog post about this exact thing, how some places just reuse photos from years ago. Always check the dates on any reviews you can find, even the good ones.

Ugh that's the worst, sorry that happened! Did you try to find any video walkthroughs on YouTube before you booked? I always search the exact property name plus "room tour" now. Photos lie but it's harder to fake a full video.
