Serious question, has anyone else's local guide contact just ghosted them before a trip?

Ten days of silence after paying a deposit is so unprofessional!

Just blew $350 on a 'top-rated' dive light from an online ad that flooded after 15 minutes in 40 feet of murk.

That murk is a real light killer, 40 feet is nothing to mess with. The big thing a lot of people miss is that "top-rated" online often means for clear water reef diving. For true low vis and silt, you need a light built for the abuse. My dive club swears by UK or Light Monkey for that kind of work, they're built like tanks. The seals and switches are just made different. It's worth checking if your next one has a real warranty for professional use, not just a store return policy.

Vent: Spent 8 hours chasing a phantom comms fault on a G1000 install

Wow, a factory-new connector was the problem the whole time...

I was reading a deposition transcript from a case about a stolen smoothie recipe and the lawyer asked about the 'texture of the mango chunks' for 45 straight pages.

Honestly, that kind of hyper-focus on a tiny detail feels like modern life in a nutshell. We get stuck arguing about the texture of the mango chunks while the whole smoothie business is on fire. It happens in office meetings, family group chats, everything. The real issue gets lost because someone won't let go of one small, weird point.

Just realized my dad was right about cleaning cartridge slots

What's the simplest old-school fix you've seen work when everyone else was trying something complicated? I watched my grandpa fix a noisy fan with a drop of sewing machine oil after my dad bought a whole new motor.
