Tried a 'cold' perm rod set on a client with fine hair last week

I soaked the rods in ice water before rolling, thinking it would just slow the process. Her wave pattern came out way tighter and held its shape for almost a full month, which never happens with her usual perm. Anyone have a theory on why the cold made such a difference?

Interesting result, but a month of hold on fine hair sounds like a stretch. Cold water might tighten the curl a bit, but that kind of longevity usually points to the perm solution itself being stronger than usual. Could it have been a coincidence with a new batch of product?

My fine hair actually held a perm for six weeks with cold water rinses. The cold seals the cuticle and locks in the shape better than heat. It wasn't a stronger solution, just a simple change in routine.
