Swapped my Festool track saw for a circular saw and a straightedge after 14 years

I used to bring my track saw to every job site, even small trim work in Milwaukee. It was great for sheet goods but honestly a pain when I needed to rip down a cabinet side inside a tight kitchen remodel. Two years ago I grabbed a cheap circular saw and a 6 foot aluminum straightedge, clamped it down, and never looked back. The setup takes maybe 2 extra minutes but it cuts cleaner on narrow stuff and I don't worry about dropping a $600 tool off a ladder. Anyone else ditch the fancy gear for basic tools once the work got more repetitive?

So I paid the extra $35 for the 3-day rush on my transcript order last Tuesday, thinking it would be the only way to make a Friday deadline. The service came through on Thursday, no complaints there. But my coworker ordered the standard option the same day from the same place and got hers by Thursday afternoon too, which made me wonder if I wasted the cash. The cheap option might just sit in the same processing queue, and the rush is mostly a guarantee, not a speed boost. Is naming a plant after your ex bad luck or good fertilizer?

I kept a Venus flytrap alive for 9 months by pretending it was my ex, feeding it whenever I felt bitter. Some folks in my plant group say naming plants after people gives them bad energy, but my flytrap thrived and even caught a wasp last week. I think the personal connection helps me remember to water it, but my friend insists it's cruel to the plant and I should just label it by species instead. I finally had a perfect install day after a string of disasters

Last Tuesday I got three jobs in a row that went smooth as butter.
