Shoutout to the guy who said to check the original source documents for the moon landing photos

I got stuck for a month arguing online about a specific Apollo 11 photo, but it only took an afternoon to find the NASA technical scans and see the 'anomaly' was just a film processing artifact. Anyone have a good method for finding primary sources on older events like this?

My buddy got into a huge fight online about some blur in a JFK photo. He spent weeks going in circles until he found the National Archives website. They had the original negatives you can zoom right into. Turned out it was just a scratch on the lens, not anything weird. How do you even start looking for old government records like that?

Weeks going in circles" is the perfect summary of internet arguments. It's amazing how many hours people will spend yelling at pixels instead of just, you know, looking for the original source. The National Archives site is a lifesaver for that, even if it means admitting your big conspiracy is a dusty camera lens.

Sometimes those archives are a mess to search though, and @bettyhunt's friend got lucky finding that negative so fast.
