I always thought coolant concentration didn't matter much until I read a study from a trade school showing a 2% drop can increase tool wear by over 30%.

Found that fact in an old machining textbook at the library and now I'm checking my mix with a refractometer every single shift, what's your routine for keeping coolant right?

Used to think it was all about keeping the sump full. That study was a real eye-opener for me too. Now I test the concentration every Monday and Thursday without fail.

That's the kind of scary fact that makes you double-check everything! Used to just top off the tank with water like a dummy. Now it's refractometer Monday, check pH Wednesday, and a full sump clean every other month. Boss thought I was nuts until his insert costs went down.

Double-check everything" is right. I read an article about how even small changes in salinity can stress fish and make them more likely to get sick. It said a steady environment is way more important than chasing perfect numbers all the time. Your schedule sounds like a solid way to keep things stable without going overboard.
