Honestly, I had to pick between a full A5 journal or a pocket one for my daily carry and I think I messed up.

My old boss carried a tiny notebook for years. He filled it with meeting notes and grocery lists, the pages soft as cloth. That thing probably saved his marriage twice.

Nah, you probably made the right call. A pocket journal is way more useful for actually writing stuff down on the go. An A5 just ends up left at home or weighing your bag down. The best notebook is the one you have with you, full stop.

The best notebook is the one you have with you" feels like a lot of pressure for a notepad. It's just paper. If I forget it at home, I'll use my phone or a receipt. We don't need to make everything about perfect, constant use.
