That friend who called me out for always booking the cheapest hostel
My buddy Dave told me straight up I was wasting money by staying in $8 dorm beds in Vietnam. He said the 30 minutes I spent every morning fixing broken lockers or hunting for a working shower killed my trip time. I started booking places for $12-15 a night instead and suddenly had way less hassle. Has anyone else had a travel buddy give them a reality check on spending habits?

Oh man, I actually just read somewhere that bed bugs are way more common in the real cheap places, so @sam_rivera is probably right. I know a guy who had to throw out his whole backpack after one of those $8 spots in Cambodia, that would suck way more than spending a few extra bucks.
