Saw a brick wall in Savannah with the weirdest pattern I've ever seen
It was on a house near Forsyth Park, looked like someone tried a herringbone but gave up halfway and just started stacking them sideways. The mortar lines were all over the place, like a 2 inch gap in one spot and nothing in the next. Has anyone else run into a historic repair that just makes you scratch your head?

Was it on that corner with the big oak tree? I swear I've seen that exact wall. It looks like they ran out of the original brick and just used whatever was lying around. Some are dark red, some are that orangey color, and a few even look like regular concrete blocks with a brick veneer slapped on. The pattern switch is so sudden it almost gives you whiplash. I mean, who was in charge of that job, and what were they thinking?

That whole area is a goldmine for weird brickwork... reminds me of a chimney I saw on a house over in the Victorian district. It looked like three different people built it in three different centuries, with this wild mix of rounded river rocks and flat bricks all slapped together with what had to be just plain dirt. Always figured a homeowner did it themselves after a storm.
