My neighbor swore by a certain route to avoid the 405 mess
For years, my neighbor Frank insisted that taking 96th Street all the way to Beardslee was the secret to beating the evening backup getting out of Canyon Park. He said it added maybe two minutes but saved the stress. I was a die-hard 522 person, convinced the lights would kill me. After another bumper-to-bumper Tuesday, I finally tried his way. It was shockingly clear. I got home in about 18 minutes, a solid 10 minutes faster than my usual crawl. I guess the local who's lived here for 30 years might know the backroads better. Has anyone else found a weirdly good shortcut that actually works, or was I just lucky that day?

It's actually 522 that turns into Beardslee, not 96th.

Yeah, @willowroberts is right on that one. I always mix up those turns by the old mill. Makes a big difference when you're trying to get across town.
