Old lady at the bus stop told me to watch 'Patriot' on Prime

I was waiting for a bus in Austin and this retired teacher started talking about how her son got her into streaming shows. She said 'Patriot' has the best dialogue she has heard in 40 years of watching TV. Has anyone else given that show a shot or am I just listening to a crazy lady who probably also feeds stray cats?

Hold on, are we sure it's not just a show that happens to have good writing for people who already have a soft spot for depressed characters? I mean, I've met a few folks who couldn't get past how slow and meandering the whole thing is, like it's trying too hard to be clever in its misery.

Did that retired teacher mention how the show handles PTSD and mental health? Because that's the part nobody talks about. The main character is a mess of coping mechanisms and it doesn't paint him as a hero or a villain. It just shows what happens when someone carries that much weight and tries to act normal. Kind of refreshing compared to most spy shows that make it look glamorous.
