I finally admitted the book club moderator was right about slow pacing

Well, well, well, look who showed up to eat crow. "Bad writing" huh? I walked into my book club with the same energy last year about 'The Goldfinch' - told everyone the first 200 pages were a snooze fest. Turned out the whole point was making you feel as lost as the main character. Still had to sit through three meetings with that smug look on Maria's face every time she brought it up. Guess we both learned that sometimes the author's just playing 4D chess while we're still figuring out checkers.

Shoutout to the guy at the hardware store who told me to use a candle on my stuck zipper

Four times I tried that dish soap trick on an old Jansport backpack last summer. Each time it felt like it worked for about a day or two, then the zipper got grittier than before. The soap mixed with all the sand and crumbs in the track turned into this gross paste that just jammed things up worse. Ended up having to rinse the whole track out with a garden hose and then use a dry lubricant spray to actually fix it. That lifeguard probably meant well, but dish soap is just a short term fix that makes more work later.

Am I the only one who used to spray WD-40 on every sticky door track until an old timer told me that just attracts more dirt?

Stopped me dead in my tracks! I had no idea about the dust magnet thing. I always thought WD-40 was the magic fix for everything squeaky, you know? But now that you mention it, I've definitely seen that nasty gummy buildup on my garage door tracks before. Guess I've been making a mess without even realizing it all these years!

DAE get annoyed when people book 'budget' flights but then blow $60 on airport food?

Man my cousin did the same thing flying out of Newark last month. Bragged about getting a $39 ticket to Nashville then dropped $45 on two bloody marys before boarding.

Saw a historic 1850s chimney in Charleston last weekend that had no liner at all

Oh man, that's a scary story! I check my liner every year now since I once convinced myself a little creosote was "fine" for way too long. Guess I'm just a slow learner when it comes to fire safety lessons!
