A client told me my extractions were too rough and it stuck with me

Oh man, "fighting my skin" is such a clear way to put it. My friend who does massage had a client say they felt "processed like a factory part" because she was rushing. She said it made her totally change how she starts each session, just taking a quiet minute to focus before even touching them.

Shoutout to the binder who called my corners 'sloppy' at the guild meetup

Honestly, that's a solid lesson. I used to get so defensive about my edge painting, someone told me it looked like I'd just glooped it on. They were right, I was rushing the layers and not sanding between coats. Now I do super thin coats with a tiny brush and sand with like 800 grit paper in between. It takes forever but the finish is glassy smooth.

PSA: I was teaching new players all wrong for years

Honestly that glazed-over look is the real signal to stop talking lol. Once you see it, anything else you say just gets lost. Jumping in and learning by doing works way better, even if you mess up the first round. Some of my best game nights started with everyone being totally confused for the first twenty minutes.

My client's 'simple' website update turned into a 3 week coding nightmare

@the_mia Is it just that everything is old and connected, or is there also a pressure to patch things fast instead of doing it right? Feels like we're always choosing the cheap band-aid fix over actually rebuilding the shaky foundation. Then the next leak is even bigger.

Found a quick fix for a clogged shimmer ink in my TWSBI

Yeah, I saw a blog post once that said a tiny bit of soap acts as a surfactant to break the surface tension. Makes total sense for shimmer inks that like to gum up. Your mix sounds like it hit the sweet spot.
