Finally finished The Expanse after quitting season 2 twice

I tried watching The Expanse like three times over the past two years and always dropped it around episode 4 or 5 of the first season. The political stuff felt so slow. But then last month I got stuck at home with a cold and pushed through to season 3 and wow it really clicked. Has anyone else struggled to get into a show and then it suddenly became one of their favorites after forcing through the first few episodes?

Ha, yeah I used to be one of those people rolling my eyes at all the hype around this show. My brother kept telling me to stick with it and I was like "nah, it's just space politics, boring." But then I got stuck home with the flu a few months back and figured I had nothing else to watch. By the time I got to season 3 I was absolutely hooked and texted my brother to apologize for being so stubborn lol. The world building is actually insane once you push past the slow start. I feel like I'm gonna be that annoying person now telling everyone to just get through those first few episodes.

Honestly, I totally get what you mean about the political stuff dragging. My buddy Dave tried watching it at the same time as me and quit twice too. Then he got sick last winter and binged the whole first two seasons in a weekend. He said once he hit the episode where they find the protomolecule on the shuttle, everything just clicked and he couldn't stop watching. He's been trying to get me to give it another go ever since. Tbh I might just have to find a free weekend and force myself past that early slowness.

Oh man, I was exactly the same way lol. I remember telling my friend the first few episodes felt like a slog with all the UN and Mars talk. Then last month I was stuck at home with a cold and figured I'd give it one more shot. That protomolecule reveal on the shuttle totally flipped something for me too. Now I'm the one bugging everyone to push through it because the payoff is so worth it.
