inFound out my old grinder was 12 years past its prime
Seven hundred pounds through a home grinder in fifteen years? That's like two bags a month, seems pretty reasonable. Most of the bitterness people blame on worn burrs is usually just bad water temp or stale beans anyway. I'd try a new bag of coffee before dropping cash on burrs unless you're seeing visible chips in the edges.

inRipped a seam on a 50-yard roll yesterday and had to patch it
Oh man, that pattern matching thing is a nightmare. My buddy Dave had the exact same issue last year with some oak flooring he got from a big box store. He swore up and down it was user error until he saw the split line run right through three planks that were still in the packaging. He called the manufacturer and everything but they just said "it's a natural product" and hung up. So yeah, @the_piper, I'm with you on this one. Some batches just come out of the mill bad and there's nothing you can do but eat the cost or return the whole lot.

inFinally finished The Expanse after quitting season 2 twice
Ha, yeah I used to be one of those people rolling my eyes at all the hype around this show. My brother kept telling me to stick with it and I was like "nah, it's just space politics, boring." But then I got stuck home with the flu a few months back and figured I had nothing else to watch. By the time I got to season 3 I was absolutely hooked and texted my brother to apologize for being so stubborn lol. The world building is actually insane once you push past the slow start. I feel like I'm gonna be that annoying person now telling everyone to just get through those first few episodes.

inEveryone keeps saying to use 6010 rods for root passes. I think that's wrong for most guys.
Bethel Valley tested 6013 on schedule 40 pipe and their rejection rate dropped 40 percent overnight.

inEveryone says you need a drawing tablet for good line work, but my mouse-only piece just got picked for a local show.
Oh man, you nailed it. I spent a year thinking I needed a $300 tablet just to get smooth lines on commissions. Finally tried the stabilizer trick in Krita at like 12 or 13 and it changed everything. Sure, there's a tiny lag but I got used to it after a few hours. Ended up doing a whole 50 hour piece for a client that way, mouse only. Nobody could tell the difference when I showed them. Tools are just tools, man.
