I found out the average car has over 30,000 parts

I was reading an old trade magazine at the shop and saw that number. It blew my mind because I just finished a quarter panel job on a Civic and felt like I touched half of them. My boss laughed and said, 'Yeah, and you get to know every single one when a kid brings in a basket case.' Has anyone else come across a fact about our work that just seemed crazy?

That "basket case" line is so true. I had a project car where the owner just handed me boxes of parts. The trick that saved me was taking a million pictures before you take anything apart, even stuff you think you'll remember. It made putting it back together way less of a headache.
