Ugh, I feel that. It's like when a paint color is called "artisanal cave mushroom" but it's just the same beige every landlord uses. The whole "hidden gem" thing is now just code for "we paid for ads." Nothing says authentic local experience like a forced rustic sign and overpriced fries.

Did the worst one you heard about come from a slow buildup of bad signs, or was it just a total shock out of nowhere? Sometimes knowing it's coming for weeks makes it harder, but getting hit with it all at once is its own kind of awful, lol.
