That "one screw" thing hits way too close to home... I spent like three hours once convinced my entire plate was warped because of a rattle. Turned out I just forgot to screw the stabilizer into the PCB on one side. Just sat there floating around loose like a dummy. Worst part is I had already taken the whole board apart twice before I noticed. Sometimes I think my brain just skips over the obvious stuff when I'm hyperfocused on the complicated possibilities...

Oh man I used to totally be on your buddy's side actually! But I've seen guys run cutterheads way past that mark and still get decent results. Maybe it's just me but I feel like people get a little too precious about these old-school tricks. A little grease pencil isn't going to save you if the ground conditions are just bad.
