inMy kraut turned to mush until a guy at the farmers market in Asheville showed me his trick.
Are you supposed to really lean into it or just press it down firm? @wesley_grant33 mentioned his buddy got his cabbage crisp with that long pack down, so I'm thinking you gotta put some real weight on it. I usually just use my hand to tamp it, but maybe a wooden spoon or a jar would work better. The brine kicking in faster makes total sense, because that's where all the good fermentation happens. I'm trying this on my next batch for sure, thanks for the tip!

inStuck on a wire transfer issue for 2 days at Chase in Chicago
Admitted I used to think people were just impatient with bank stuff, but then I had my own wire transfer stuck for 36 hours last month and it drove me crazy. They kept asking for the same info like a broken record and I had to call three times before someone actually looked at my documents. Finally got it released when I asked to speak to a supervisor who just pushed a button and said "oh yeah that was an easy fix." Really changed my view on how broken their system is.

inThat meal kit subscription cost me $80 for three sad meals
Oh man, I feel this so hard lol. I tried one of those kits for a couple weeks and ended up spending like $90 on a box that somehow had carrots in every single meal. The worst part was the portions - I'm a grown adult and I still had to cook extra rice or grab a sandwich after eating. And you're totally right about Kroger, I live near one too and it's way cheaper to just plan your own meals. Honestly I gave up on them and just started doing simple recipes with stuff I buy on sale.

inHot take: went with the $12 serum over the $65 one from Sephora
Did your friend try one of those no-name grocery store brands and get surprised too? My neighbor swore by fancy ketchup until she tried the store brand at a potluck and couldn't tell the difference.

inThat time I dug a test pit wrong for 6 months straight
Wait, were you not doing any kind of training or checking in with senior field staff during that time? 6 months is a long stretch to be scraping instead of slicing without anyone stepping in to correct it. Just wondering how common it is for folks to work alone like that and miss something so basic.
