Rant: My team lead laughed at my board game hobby during a review, and now I'm considering a change.

You're so right about the strategy part. I used to think board games were just silly fun until I tried playing Twilight Imperium with friends. Trying to manage resources, make deals, and plan moves three turns ahead made my head hurt more than any work project. It completely changed how I see games like Catan. That stuff is real brain work.

PSA: Sketching out cable runs with colored pencils before drilling has become my favorite prep step!

My last big job, I used three different colored Sharpies right on the studs, red for power, blue for data, green for AV. @avery921 is totally right, it feels like a small thing but it stops that moment of panic when you're holding a drill and can't remember the plan. I even drew little arrows for the run direction. It took maybe ten extra minutes at the start and saved me from at least two dumb mistakes I would have made. Watching the colors as you work just makes the whole path so clear in your head.

This guy at the coffee shop in Austin told me I was drinking it wrong

My uncle used to microwave his coffee after it got cold. Told him to just make a fresh cup and he looked at me like I suggested something crazy. Some people just have their own whole science.

Thinking back to my first feeder setup as a kid

Honestly, five different feeders? That sounds like a full time job just filling them all. Tbh I can barely keep one clean and full, the squirrels would have a field day at my place with five. Ngl the idea of matching food to the exact bird is a bit much for me, I just want to see some birds.

Update: My hunt for a quiet canyon spring ended with a donkey blocking the path

Wait, so you can actually bargain with big animals like that? I always figured a moose would just stomp you for getting close. That story kind of makes me believe @jade271 is onto something with the whole food toll idea. Maybe wild creatures are just looking for a snack trade. I used to think you should never feed them, but now I'm wondering if carrying extra snacks is just good trail sense.
