DAE break their first spoon on a frozen burrito and feel weirdly proud?
Last Tuesday I was trying to pry apart two frozen burritos stuck together with a Walmart spoon and the bowl part just snapped right off at the neck. I stood there holding the handle like an idiot, but then I realized I finally had a bend to post here instead of just lurking. Anybody else get their start from dumb kitchen accidents?
Breaking a spoon on a burrito is not some rite of passage, it is just you using the wrong tool and ruining a spoon. A Walmart spoon is thin stamped metal that bends if you look at it wrong, so prying apart two frozen bricks was always going to snap the neck. That is not a bend, that is the spoon doing exactly what cheap spoons do, which is fail. If the bar for posting here is any kitchen mistake, then everyone who ever dropped a glass or melted a spatula gets a trophy. Go buy a real spoon and stop calling a broken utensil a milestone.
