inMy cousin said to never play 'Terraforming Mars' with the drafting variant on a first game, but I tried it anyway.
Man, I read a blog post that compared teaching complex games to learning a new language. Trying to cover everything at once just makes people shut down. You gotta start with the basic verbs before you write a poem.

inI switched from a cheap hardware store anvil to a 70lb NC Tool anvil for my scroll work
Man, I know that feeling. I used a worn-out ball peen for years before I got a proper cross peen. The difference in how the metal spreads is crazy, it went from a fight to just guiding it. My wrist still hates me for all that wasted effort.

inPSA: A chat with my friend's kid about her school project made me see AI differently
Man, that's a good point. We always talk about AI taking jobs, but we never talk about the jobs it creates for people. That kid basically hired a free research assistant. For someone who can't drive to a library or afford a tutor, that's huge. It's not about being lazy, it's about getting help that wasn't there before. That changes who can do good work.

inI thought the 50/30/20 budget rule was total BS until I tried it for real this year.
It really clicked for me once I saw the 20% savings pile up.

inMy buddy said he never uses soap on his cast iron and I'm not sure about that
It's wild how myths stick around. @skylerc86 mentioning lye soap is key, that stuff was harsh. Modern soap is basically just a degreaser, it can't touch polymerized oil. The real threat to seasoning is acidic food sitting in the pan or using metal tools too rough. A quick soap wash and a dry on the stove keeps my pans in way better shape than the old "just wipe it out" method.
