Last Saturday in Springfield I hit about 8 yard sales before 9am and found nothing but baby clothes and lamps. Was about to head home when I saw one last table in a guy's driveway with a bunch of old toys. Under a stack of Beanie Babies there was a beat up Trapper Keeper stuffed with cards. I asked how much and the guy said 5 bucks for the whole thing. Looked like mostly junk cards from when his kid was into it in the late 90s. I almost passed because the binder smelled like musty basement and the cover was peeling. But my neighbor's kid collects and I figured he'd like them for free. Got home and started sorting through, found a first edition Charizard with some edge wear, a Blastoise, and a few others. Took them to a local shop and one guy offered me 260 bucks on the spot. My car had been making this grinding noise for two weeks and the quote was 300. So that binder basically covered most of it. Forgot how those cards exploded in value. Anyone else ever grab something just to give away and end up selling it for way more than you expected? What was your best accidental find?
